The 38500 standard lays down the foundations for the governance of IT systems and information. IT Governance decisions are taken at the highest level of a business and these choices can have huge consequences for the IT Management department. The standard sets out guidelines on how to "Manage, Evaluate and monitor" the objectives of your IT Department. The ISO / IEC 38500 standard comes from the australian rule AS8015 of which one of the creators is Mark Toomey.
